Second Harvest

Role:
Flyer Designer, Researcher
My main role in this project was as a flyer designer, and a researcher. This project included the creation of several different assets including flyers, yard signs, social media posts, social media stories, videos for both websites and social media, and instructions. I was in charge of creating all of the flyer designs, both generic designs that any partner of Second Harvest could use, as well as customizable designs that their partners could edit the text, color scheme, logo, photos, and links of. As a team, we dedicated our time to researching the best possible way to meet the goals of our clients, learning more about volunteer work, bilingual volunteering, and food insecurity.

Description:
This was a project done by the 2025 DIMA 480 class for the Second Harvest Heartland organization. Our class collaborated on both Design and Production work for Second Harvest Heartland to use, in order to increase their volunteer numbers. This project required research and months of planning in order to create a variety of designs and videos for Second Harvest Heartland to give to their partner organizations to use. Below are a variety of the designs that I created for this project. We were tasked with creating both generic and customizable designs for our client, and I created 5 Generic and 3 Customizable. When designing my posters, my top priorities were to focus on readability and accessibility, as well as using our research to meet the needs of our client. These designs are going to be used by hundreds of different organizations, and not all of them have the capabilities to print these in color, so each design was crafted to work in both color and monotone. Our message behind these designs was to help people find volunteering opportunities, and we were specifically looking for any bilingual volunteers. All of our designs have a coherent theme of friendliness and positively. Among my designs, the first pair the first was created to include photos, allowing our client’s partners to include photos of their choosing. The second pair are focused on simplicity, including few words and a big QR code. The third pair of designs use graphics instead of photos, incase if the client’s partner doesn’t want photos. The final pair of designs were created specifically for a video, produced by a different member of the team.
