Roles:
Writer
This was a solo project, where my main role was to write an enjoyable fiction story, including some writing concepts learned in the creative writing class I was taking at the time.
Description:
New Moon is about a young man named Donny, who lives a simple yet repetitive life in his small village. Every single day for him is the exact same, but he doesn’t quite mind. This schedule is only occasionally broken by the arrival of a new moon.
In creating this project, I used different techniques learned in class including Point of View, Character, and Scene Vs. Summary. The story mainly uses third person, but it strictly follows the perspective of the main character Donny. Each character in the story is a round character, they have small story arcs where their personalities evolve overtime. The story utilizes both in scene writing, vividly describes Donny’s routine, and summary writing, where Donny’s daily cycle passes by in moments. “New Moon” was created for anyone to enjoy but is mainly meant for those who are living with OCD. The meaning behind this story is mainly about living life with OCD, and the new moon represents how change can often be felt to those who are unable to properly cope with it. Using the various concepts I described, I tried to put this theme into the story.
